Requirements

  • You are passionate about science and are currently studying biotechnology, molecular biology, cell biology or any other relevant life-science subject at a university or similar.
  • Being enrolled is a formal requirement for the internship.
  • During your studies, you already gained hands-on experience in molecular biology and cell culture work and are confident to work independently.
  • You may be a generalist looking to dive deep into one topic, or a specialist looking to broaden your expertise.
  • Ideally, you bring knowledge in the field of data handling & analysis and can process & present them accordingly.
  • Coding experience in python, R, mathlab, bash would be an advantage.
  • Good skills in English, both spoken and in writing, alongside experience in working in multi-cultural, international teams complete your profile.

Responsibilities

  • During your internship you will be part of a dynamic team of highly motivated scientists and will learn and apply cutting-edge technologies for drug and cell line development
  • You will design and build new genetic elements and vectors (promoters, gene switches) for the expression of therapeutic molecules and test them (by e.g. NGS) in a production setting
  • You will have the opportunity to implement new workflows and improve existing methods for production, purification and characterization
  • You will also contribute to the development and implementation of new technologies inspired by synthetic biology approaches. Using state-of-the-art bioinformatics you will learn from the results and present your findings to the group
  • You will take part in regular exchanges and will also have the opportunity to give presentations to colleagues from other Roche sites in Basel and the US
