Requirements

  • MCA Internships are geared towards current college students and recent graduates ( <1 year ) who are interested in contemporary art and have a passion for learning more about how museums work.
  • Candidates must be interested in exploring a potential career in the cultural sector.
  • Interns must be able to work up to 24 hours per week onsite for the entirety of the internship period.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, demonstrate excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), organized, and able to manage assignments with attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform occasional light lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Work hand in hand with the museum’s Content Strategy team to develop texts related to museum exhibitions and programs, including printed and digital pieces.
  • Support the Content Strategy team on the entire editorial life-cycle, from project management assistance to drafting text to proofreading content.
  • Learn important research skills while helping to prepare texts and content for exhibitions and publications.
  • Perform administrative duties related to content and editorial process such as scheduling meetings, taking and distributing meeting notes and action items, and assisting in creating documents and slide decks.
  • Work with members from other departments to understand how staff collaborates across the Museum on exhibitions and other projects.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and MCA staff events.

The MCA documents contemporary visual culture through painting, sculpture, photography, video and film, and performance.
