Requirements

  • Electrical or other related engineering major
  • At least two semesters of physics and three semesters of mathematics
  • Junior or senior standing with a minimum of one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate course work remaining after the internship
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
  • Conscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results
  • Thorough, organized, detail-oriented approach
  • A flexible working style and the ability to work with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • GPA of at least 3.2/4.0
  • Degree with a focus in power systems

Responsibilities

  • The person in this position will work with project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. Work may include performing basic engineering calculations and analysis, developing details of design, assisting in the design of solutions, monitoring construction projects, and preparing drawings, specifications, and sketches. Work may involve tasks related to power distribution lines, transmission lines, substations, renewable generation, and energy storage.
