When is the expected start date for this internship?
The internship position is expected to start around May 2025 and continue through the Summer term (approximately August 2025), with the possibility of extending into Fall 2025 if available.
How long is the internship?
We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.
What type of students are eligible to apply for this internship?
This internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation should apply for full-time positions, not internships.
Is this internship open to international students?
Yes, but if your work authorization is through CPT, you should consult your school regarding your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying.
What kind of projects will I be working on during the internship?
You will research and develop estimation and control algorithms for thermal management of the powertrain, battery, cabin HVAC, and heat pump, among other tasks.
Which software tools will I be using in this role?
You will build dynamic thermal system models in Matlab/Simulink/Python or similar tools, and use them to develop and refine control strategies.
What educational background is required for this internship?
You should be pursuing an advanced degree in a relevant Engineering program such as Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
What skills are essential for this position?
A strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and linear systems analysis is essential, along with project experience in relevant areas such as thermal management and HVAC systems.
Is any prior experience with embedded firmware development necessary?
Yes, a basic proficiency with embedded firmware development in C/C++ or similar is required.
What is the expected compensation rate for this internship?
The expected compensation rate ranges from $36.06 to $50.48 per hour, along with benefits.
