    Full-time
    Off-cycle Internship
  • Engineering
  • London

Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements:
  • UK or a valid Work Permit for the UK (if not, we can host European interns in our office in Munich, Germany)
  • Mechanical Engineering or equivalently relevant university program
  • Completion of courses relevant to thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer
  • Completion of courses relevant to turbomachinery principles
  • Preference will be given to applicants with:
  • Familiarity with commercial CFD codes (Fluent, CFX, STAR-CCM+)
  • Familiarity with automatic optimization algorithms

Responsibilities

  • Interns will learn all steps of the turbomachinery design and analysis cycle, starting from evaluation of preliminary sizing for complete turbomachinery packages, to detailed analysis of the flow within and between various components and identify the main sources of aerodynamic and hydrodynamic loss. Finally, interns may be actively involved in the redesign of such components for improved performances.
  • In addition to general turbomachinery know-how, interns will work actively with TURBOdesign Suite and other leading turbomachinery commercial tools from ADT’s partners.

TURBOdesign Suite's 3D Inverse Design method improves efficiency, speed and performance in turbomachinery design.

Mission & Purpose

Our TURBOdesign software is a fluid-dynamic design toolset, applicable to radial and axial turbomachinery including fans, pumps, compressors and turbines. The software uses our unique Inverse Design technology, which determines geometry mathematically from specified flow-field characteristics. Our technology and tools enables turbomachinery engineers to link seamlessly to common CAE environments to improve efficiency, achieve higher performance and deliver faster designs to produce and maintain market-leading products and solutions.
