Requirements

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Senior or above.
  • Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
  • An official transcript may be required upon request.
  • Preferred majors include: Digital Media, Animation, Game Design.
  • Required proficiency with 3D Studio Max or Maya, modeling/animation skills that represent attention to detail, real-world scale, and realistic motion.
  • Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Superior written & verbal communication skills.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.
  • Consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Creates 3D models, rigs, and animates ride systems and mechanical show equipment from CAD drawings, or cleans up and optimizes imported models.
  • Creates 3D models and textures, animates show scenes, and incorporates designs from various other designers.
  • Outputs scene studies as animatics for creative and technical review.
  • Iterates and develops ideas based on guidance and feedback from leadership and team member.
  • Assists with iteration and development of future attractions currently in production utilizing 3D software.
  • Participates in brainstorming meetings for new ride concepts and ideas.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

It is Universal's equivalent of Walt Disney Imagineering. From 1968 until 1997, Universal Creative was known as MCA Planning and Development.
