Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering required
  • 2 years of PhD studies (preferred)
  • Ideal Candidate:
  • Electrical engineering Ph.D student with emphasis on power systems
  • Strong experience with inverter controls
  • Strong experience with microcontroller programming (preferably Texas Instruments C2000)
  • Strong experience with electromagnetic transients simulation tools (preferably PSCAD and Simulink)
  • Strong programming skills (preferably Python and Matlab)

Responsibilities

  • The student will support the EPRI team by:
  • Developing grid forming (GFM) and grid following (GFL) inverter models in electromagnetic transients (EMT) simulation tools
  • Programming inverter microcontrollers
  • Conducting laboratory experiments on a hardware testbed
