Requirements

  • Education/Certification:
  • Enrollment in or graduation from a bachelor’s degree program required.
  • Enrollment in a Juris Doctor degree program preferred, but not required.
  • Overall Experience:
  • Prior internship experience a plus
  • Adaptability and a willingness to work, and be cross-trained, on a broad variety of legal matters and tasks, and adjust to changing circumstances required
  • Aptitude to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment required
  • The successful candidate will be a practical-minded individual who has a “can do” attitude, is responsible, service-driven, enthusiastic, pro-active, and takes initiative/ownership of projects
  • Skills:
  • Excellent attention to detail required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook required
  • Analytical and administrative skills required.
  • Superb organizational skills required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with experienced in-house attorneys to assess business projects, identify key legal issues.
  • Review lawsuits against the Company, analyze claims, and help shape the defense of the matter by conducting legal research, drafting memos, reviewing documents and court filings, participating on strategy calls, and attending hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Help review, draft, structure and negotiate a variety of contracts, including vendor, sponsorship, marketing, licensing, technology, privacy, cybersecurity, and facility/building leases.
  • Help review advertising/marketing materials, including retailer, consumer facing, traditional advertising, digital social media, promotions, and public relations material, etc.
  • Help KUS attorneys advise on a variety of employment-related matters, including HR policies and regulatory developments.
  • Create status reports for executives and the legal department.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor. This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed, as necessary
