Description
- Gagosian is pleased to offer a six-month internship position at our Grosvenor Hill location. We are looking for a committed and proactive individual, with strong research abilities, impeccable attention to detail and a passion for art. Applicants must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and prioritise.
- We believe that our Gagosian interns are integral to the functioning of the gallery. Through focused development, we aim to attract and retain a diverse pool of talent.
- The six-month internship will support the personal and professional growth of the candidate to enhance future career opportunities, both at Gagosian and in the wider art world.

Research & Development
Responsibilities
Library
- Manage the gallery’s Integrated Library System (ILS) according to an in-house content standard; and update as needed
- Aid in the re-organisation of the gallery’s existing library and auction catalogues
- Maintain and oversee cataloguing of all library books for circulation within the gallery
- Maintain and oversee cataloguing of all on site auction catalogue inventories
- Support staff members in collection development for the gallery’s library
- Catalogue new books for the gallery’s library
Research
- Carry out book checks to support members of the global
- Research team, using both internal and external London libraries
- Catalogue secondary market artworks; Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary
- Thoroughly research artworks provenance, exhibition and publication history using online databases, gallery library, external libraries and consignor’s liaisons within the gallery
- Complete adhoc research requests from sales staff and directors
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Library Information Management, Art History, or equivalent relevant experience
- Proof of right to work in the UK
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of the gallery world and modern and contemporary art
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (for PC) and Google Docs
- Familiarity with art resources and databases Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Possess excellent time management and organisational skills
- Must be able to work independently and exercise judgement as needed
- Able to complete work efficiently and accurately in a deadline-driven environment
- Highly detail-oriented Excellent proofreading skills
Preferred
- Prior professional working or internship experience
- Experience with ILS software, Eloquent OPAC or software as a service
- Familiarity with Adobe Suite (InDesign)
