Requirements

  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related degree.
  • The candidate must be a US citizen.
  • Desired Skills:
  • Understanding of basic Manufacturing Engineering principles
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Engineering drawing interpretation and material properties
  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with optics manufacturing processes; to include installation, alignment, and interferometric evaluation.
  • Familiarity with optics design principles.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes (electronic, mechanical, optical assemblies), GD&T, precision machining, assembly sequences.
  • Machining concepts and equipment (lathes/mills/etc)
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly, industrial processes, technical writing, and teaming. Strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ‘Lean’ manufacturing concepts & techniques
  • CREO/ProE experience with a focus on tooling, taking a concept through to final design and fabrication
  • Leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate must be able to develop and implement Manufacturing Process Plans (MPP's) for a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies. Utilize basic drafting and software programs to develop MPP's, design tooling, support equipment, process flows.
  • Apply lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost and increase yields. Must have good communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment. Investigate root cause of failures/defects and implement corrective action to support continuous improvement.
