Requirements

  • Required Education & Experience:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be a current enrolled in an accredited graduate school program (Master’s program or Medical School)
  • Must reside in the greater Los Angeles area or surrounding cities while conducting all activities related to the intern visitor appointment.
  • INTERNS: Those participating for academic credit must receive academic credit for the duration of the internship.
  • Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Basic knowledge on neurology and neuroscience
  • Basic knowledge of research methods and statistics desirable
  • Experience with survey software (RedCap and Qualtrics), machine learning, or statistical software (STATA, R Studio, SPSS, or SAS software) considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • This internship will provide and introduction to clinical research. The intern will be taught the importance of human subject’s protection, HIPAA, research compliance, IRB review. The intern will learn the importance of chart review, keeping accurate and detailed records and logs, data entry, basics of manuscript writing, and data analysis. The intern will also learn basic information about stroke pathophysiology, brain imaging, and neuroanatomy. The intern will work on manuscript writing, big data analysis, processes involved in study design, and stroke epidemiology.
