Responsibilities

  • Test non-metallic materials using a variety of measurement instruments and equipment such as balances, universal testing machines, ovens, hotplates, hydraulic presses, thermal testing equipment and SEM.
  • Fabricate, cure, and inspect non-metallic materials test panels as needed, utilizing equipment such as ovens, caul plates, hydraulic presses, and autoclaves.
  • Assist chemists with general wet chemistry processes.
  • Conduct testing according to ASTM/MIL/ISO etc standards, standard work documents, and custom work requests.
  • Measure specific properties and record the data, performing calculations to generate a report, according to material specification requirements.
  • Assist investigations in production and development programs, suggesting specific relevant testing, and carefully presenting the extent of information gained.
  • Assist in optimization of new laboratory set up.
  • Communicate with members from other teams and departments to facilitate work and assist with enterprise test efforts.
  • Maintain laboratory readiness and cleanliness through 5S+1, kitting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
