Requirements

  • Are in full time education at university, and will be returning to university/your studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement?
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
  • Experience in 3D modelling
  • Knowledge of fundamental mechanical engineering principles, e.g., materials, stress/strain, and heat transfer
  • Ability to read and understand technical information
  • Ability to communicate well – both technically and non-technically – with a proven ability to work collaboratively and constructively in teams
  • Strong desire to learn and develop skills
  • Desirable Criteria:
  • A working understanding of appropriate manufacturing and fabrication techniques
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings to relevant engineering standards
  • Shows an appreciation of engineering in the wider context of society
  • Expected to achieve 2:1 or above

Responsibilities

  • To deliver engineering solutions for scientific requirements
  • Produce concepts, designs and engineering drawings through the use of 2D & 3D CAD systems
  • Create and manage specifications based on customer requirements
  • Produce calculations to validate designs
  • Present designs – both verbally and in writing – for peer and stakeholder review
