Description

  • As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the New Product Development team. This team's focus is to design industry-leading mining shovels and excavators for Komatsu's Surface Mining division.  
  • This internship is available for Summer 2024 and will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee‚Äôs Harbor District. We offer full-time hours during the summer, and flexible part-time scheduling during the academic year.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's level degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
  • Hold a rising Junior or Senior level in good academic standing, Sophomore standing may be considered
  • Ability to work independently as well a part of a team towards a goal
  • Excellent organization and personal time management skills; able to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills, able to be creative and resourceful when needed
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous internship experience, or hands-on experience in trade work (mechanical repair, electrical work, machine shop work, etc.)
  • Basic experience with a CAD tool (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ProE, Inventor, etc.) with SolidWorks preferred
  • Basic experience with programming software (Visual Basic, C++, LabVIEW, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Creative, high energy, and self-motivated
  • Proof of mechanical aptitude and interest based on previous proven skills and experience (STEM program, robotics, home projects)
