Requirements

  • Undergraduate students will need to maintain a 2.0 GPA or above throughout the internship.
  • Graduate students will need to maintain a 3.0 GPA or above throughout the internship.
  • Must have a Washington state driver’s license in order to operate a City motor pool vehicle, or the ability to obtain the license within thirty (30) days of hire with Seattle City Light.
  • Preferred Areas of Study:
  • Enrolled in an academic program in natural resources, environmental studies, biology or related field.
  • Enrolled in an accredited certificate, 2-year, 4-year, or graduate program during their internship.
  • You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
  • Experience or interest in the environmental field in support of environmental compliance, permitting or stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Environmental leadership
  • Environmental permitting training
  • Policy and planning
  • Natural resource management including critical areas, endangered species, sustainability and restoration
  • Environmental science including water quality and water resource management
  • Environmental compliance including mitigation, statutory and code interpretation
  • Project/Program Management
