The Nurse Extern program operates on a PRN/as needed basis, allowing up to 36 hours per week, with variable day shifts from 7AM to 7PM.
What is the duration of the Nurse Extern program?
The Nurse Extern program is a paid, 7-week externship that runs from June 2nd to July 25th.
What qualifications are required to apply for the Nurse Extern position?
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be a Junior I or higher-level professional nursing student with proof of completion of nursing fundamentals, possess either a CNA certification, approval of a THR PCT training program, and have Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification prior to providing independent patient care.

Yes, externs will have the opportunity to rotate through various units, including specialty areas such as Critical Care, Emergency Department, and Women and Infants.

Externs will receive a mix of on-unit and off-unit learning experiences that develop their communication skills, interpersonal skills, and assist with various procedures and treatments under the guidance of a preceptor.
