Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements:
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Planning, Geography, Science, Public Finance, or other related field with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
  • Candidates must have completed 1 year of study in their program.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, Google Earth, and/or other geographic software.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills.
  • Coursework or project experience in transit service planning, finance, transportation planning, GIS, or data analysis.
  • Experience in preparing graphics and visuals.
  • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and graphical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting research, data reviews, and analysis to inform transportation decision-making and determine potential environmental effects.
  • Interprets and compares findings of relevant studies for compliance with local, state, and Federal requirements, standard procedures, and client expectations.
  • Assist with the preparation of comprehensive plans, transportation reports, or memorandums.
  • Collects a variety of technical and statistical data and assists with the preparation of reports and maps on topics, such as census information, land use, and the natural environment.
  • Assist with GIS mapping tasks and analysis of socioeconomic, land use and development, environmental impacts, travel behavior, and transportation demand concepts.
  • Develop supporting figures using a variety of graphical tools including Adobe products, mapping software, Excel charts, and PowerPoint.
  • Support research and technical analyses on land use and multimodal planning
  • Supports agency stakeholder and public engagement efforts.
  • Work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
  • Assists with other duties assigned by senior staff or Project Managers.
