Responsibilities

  • The Powder Bed Fusion Engineering group is looking for an intern to join us in solving the most complex problems in rocket engine production. As an intern in our Powder Bed Fusion additive manufacturing group you will be responsible for developing and scaling production of Aeon R printed hardware. You will work closely with propulsion engineers to design additive parts that make Aeon R a high performance reusable rocket engine. You will also work to expand those possibilities by developing processes, techniques, and technologies that drive down cost per kilogram to orbit.
  • You love pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and finding innovative and creative solutions. You thrive in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments. You're as comfortable setting up production and quality systems as you are operating a printer, preparing build files, and improving designs. You're ready and excited to balance all these skills to work with independence and drive hard towards success and continuous improvement.
  • Past intern projects (just a few examples!):
  • Optimized and implemented upgrades to PBF machines
  • Established functional testing methodologies for as-printed hardware
  • Performed print simulations to inform engine design
  • Developed new print parameters for novel alloys
  • Conducted DFAM reviews for a breadth of components on the Aeon-R engine
  • Printed rocket engine parts!
