Requirements

  • Must currently be a full time (ideally second year) Engineering student. Chemical Engineering majors preferred.
  • Completion of college level science lab and familiarity with basic lab equipment is required. Basic knowledge of chemistry and statistics is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and proactively utilize critical thinking skills is required.
  • Requires the ability to work in a regulated environment (GMP/FDA/DEA/OSHA) and strictly follow procedures. Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports, technical and cGMP documents as well as correspondence.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and able to take initiative. Superior attention to detail, safety, quality, and customer requirements is critical.
  • Availability to work 15-20 hours a week during the hours of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday (no exceptions).
  • Housing assistance is NOT available for this role. Relocation Assistance is NOT available for this position. ONLY local candidates will be considered.
  • Physical Requirements: On an average day this position requires the ability to walk, sit and stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms at or above shoulder height and below waist height, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear, smell and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision requirements including reading of written documents, visual inspection of materials and use of computer monitor screen frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in experimentation and development activities under the supervision of a full-time pharmaceutical process engineer or chemist.
  • Document experiments in development batch records under the supervision of a full-time engineer.
  • May perform routine experiments without supervision.
  • Setup, breakdown, and cleaning of designated equipment and laboratory glassware.
  • Perform maintenance on designated equipment and generate purchase orders for supplies/equipment.
  • Work with engineering team to troubleshoot and maintain manufacturing/laboratory equipment.
  • Learn and comply with all cGMP practices in use at Catalent San Diego.
  • All duties performed in compliance with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • All other duties as assigned.
