  • The Production team sits within the new in-house creative team at CRUK, called The Studio. We help deliver innovative, engaging content on behalf of the whole charity, responding to briefs that require video, photography, audio or events AV production support.
  • This role would potentially be involved in a number of active projects, assisting the Production team with hands-on support at video/photography shoots (camera, lighting, sound etc.), contributing creative ideas, working on active video edits and helping to source creative assets to take our projects to the next level.


  • Highly creative and self-motivated, with a solutions-oriented approach and a drive to innovate
  • Basic experience with video/photography production, including cameras, lighting, sound etc.
  • Basic experience with post-production tools such as Premiere Pro. After Effects a bonus.
  • Some experience working on creative projects, with an understanding of the process for developing ideas based on a brief (with audience/objectives). Experience writing scripts, developing storyboards, coordinating paperwork would be a bonus.

Area of Responsibilities

Media & Journalism


  • Camera/Production assistant to Producers/Photographers (on-set assistance, coordinating critical paperwork such as release forms, call sheets etc.)
  • Post-production assistance (sourcing/organising assets, adding basic graphics/subtitles to videos etc.)
  • Organising creative brainstorms and delivering back to the Producer(s)/Photographer
  • Assembling creative responses to brief based on Producer direction (mood boards, summary of ideas, scripts etc.)
  • Communicating/liaising with stakeholders to gather assets/feedback on active projects
  • Helping with industry/competitor reporting to keep the Production team up to date with current creative trends

  • Stage 1: Online application:    
  • Complete an online application form – you’ll be asked to answer a motivational competency question and upload your CV.

CVs are required to be uploaded for all applications, as they will be collected for use later in the process. 
  • Stage 2: Assessment:
  • If your initial application is successful you will then be invited to complete our new situational judgment test. The test poses real life scenarios that a CRUK intern might be met with in their day to day role and asks how you would tackle that scenario. This is un-timed and multiple choice. Please let us know if you think you might require adjustments for this assessment.  
  • Stage 3: Audio Submission: 
  • If you are successful in the previous stage, you will be asked to complete an audio submission, answering competency-based questions. The questions will be emailed to you and you will have a few days to submit a response via an audio recording (no video required).    
  • Stage 4: Interviews:  
  • If you are successful in the previous stage, you will then be invited to a face-to-face interview at our head office with representatives from the team you are applying to.
