Requirements

  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and under pressure
  • An interest in international issues
  • Strong desire to help people and enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting
  • Computer literacy – preferably with PC systems
  • Must pass a background check ($51.00 fee)
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must attend IRC volunteer orientation training

Responsibilities

  • The R&P Intern assists caseworkers as they guide clients through their initial resettlement period in the US.
  • Interns will support the completion of the R&P core services, services that IRC is contractually obligated to fulfill within a client's initial 90 days in the US. Some of these services include filing benefits applications, school enrollment, public transportation orientations, scheduling client health appointments, changing client primary care providers, assisting with documentation and filing, and other assistance when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
