Requirements

  • Knowledge of the Bay Area
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts

  • Familiarity with online publications
  • Experience at a school newspaper/magazine or similar publication
  • Enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn
  • Familiarity with social media, particularly Twitter, Instagram and Reddit
  • Bonus points for:
  • Video editing experience
  • Social media experience for a brand or publication
  • Previous photography work

Responsibilities

  • This opportunity, exclusively open to Stanford students through the university's Rebele Journalism Internship program, will immerse the right candidate in the fast-paced world of digital media. You will learn the basics of day-to-day operations for a website with 1 million visits per day and work closely with our editors to assist with various content-related tasks in all sections of the site (see below).
  • You will have the opportunity to learn content ideation and write stories, contributing to the daily news cycle, getting valuable real-world clips, and being part of daily audience-building conversations. Additional responsibilities will be tailored to the candidate's skillset, but could include background research, article packaging, social media responsibilities, taking photos in the field or administrative duties as assigned. This is a 12-week, full time internship from June to August 2024.
