Requirements

  • Graduate candidate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or EECS is preferred

Responsibilities

  • As CXL Tiered Memory Architecture Performance Intern, you will be working with senior AMD system architects, Industry experts, Device vendors and the open-source software community on characterizing and bench marking Tiered Memory Architecture solutions.
  • Memory Technology, Architecture and Performance is critical for data center operation. With recent trends, significant innovation is seen in the industry across Memory Focused workload optimizations and memory technology revolution/evolution. Traditional DRAM based memory solutions are running into cost, performance, thermal and use model challenges. HBM use cases are on the rise and enhancements critical for HPC Applications. Compute Express Link opens the possibility for innovative solutions for memory bandwidth capacity and bandwidth expansion, memory disaggregation and memory centric compute. Persistent memory brings in a good cost performance metrics in the play and starts to blur the lines between High performant memory and storage class memory. Developments are happening in computational storage use models, and composable and disaggregated memory systems that will materialize in the next 5 years.
  • The CXL Tiered Memory Architecture Intern will develop a working understanding of overall Data Center System Architecture, SOC internal IP blocks, SOC internal architecture, board design, memory, IO interfaces and CXL standard.
  • You will be responsible for working on the cutting edge EPYC processors on benchmarking the CXL pooled memory system across different workloads and tuning the system level parameters. Prefer to have software coding and scripting knowledge to run different set of benchmarks on the memory set up and record results. The intern can develop simple user space utilities to allocate the memory and collect pool statistics. There is an opportunity to publish papers and present your work in Industry events.
