What is the location of the internship?
The internship can be remote or hybrid and based in our Washington, DC office.
What is the time commitment for this internship?
The internship can be completed on a part-time basis (10, 15, or 20 hours/week) or full-time (35 hours/week).
How long does the internship last?
Full-time internships span 10 consecutive weeks, while part-time internships last for 12 weeks.
Is there a stipend available for interns?
Yes, there is a stipend available for students who are lawfully authorized to work. The rates are $20/hour for undergraduate students and $24/hour for graduate and law students.
What qualifications do I need to apply for this internship?
You should have completed the first year of an undergraduate degree, possess a strong interest in the rights of incarcerated people, and have strong organizational, research, writing, and communication skills.
Are there opportunities for course credit?
Yes, arrangements can be made with educational institutions for work/study or course credit.
What type of work will I be doing as an intern?
Interns will assist with advocacy materials, conduct research, gather information related to prison conditions, track complaints from incarcerated individuals, and provide campaign and litigation support.
