Requirements

  • First work experience gained (preferably in activities related to Corporate and Investment Banking) or a sound passion for financial concepts as well as strategic thinking.
  • Diversity of studies: degree on Economics and Finance, but also Engineering (due to the connection to real economy) and Law (noting the detailed legal negotiation).
  • Knowledge of trade and commodity finance would be positive value.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel and Power Point).
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English. Knowledge of other languages (German, Italian, French, Spanish) would be positive valued, considering the interaction with European teams.

Responsibilities

  • Complete understanding and proficiency our SCIB’s STF toolkit, and how our solution would support a key need of our clients, such as helping to secure the access to a key supply (i.e., microchips, cobalt, copper) and obtained enhanced commercial terms.
  • Understand the accountancy treatment of our products and its balance sheet implications for the client.
  • Comprehend how client’s think and operate and what are their priorities.
  • The interaction with all the European, but also other Santander geographies will create a global view of the business, and specially, opportunities.
  • Support the origination and execution of structured trade transactions across Europe: the role would have daily interaction with the Trade Sales team across Europe (UK, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy and Poland), but also with LatAm and Asia being cross-border transactions by nature.
  • Assist in the preparation of marketing material for client meetings and run pricing models and credit applications for identified opportunities.
  • Perform detailed due diligence of the underlying transactions (i.e., analysis of oil reserves, offtakes contracts, annual reports, etc) and come up with ideas to enhance the structure of a proposed transaction.
  • Support the legal negotiation and documentation phase jointly with the global team and external & internal lawyers.
  • Develop specialized sector expertise, being a key aspect to proposed new ideas and gain client trust.
  • Being a small team, the candidate will have close interaction to senior stakeholders in GTB, BCF and Credit.
  • You would also have the chance to interact with different stakeholders of our clients: from Treasury, to Trading and Procurement.
