What is the purpose of the Student Dietitian Clinical Placement?
The purpose of the Student Dietitian Clinical Placement is to support FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy while providing medical nutrition therapy for patients under the supervision of a registered dietitian.
What qualifications do I need to apply for this position?
You need to have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or be currently enrolled in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
What are the main duties of a Dietetic Intern?
The main duties include conducting nutrition interviews with patients, calculating diet prescriptions, providing nutrition counseling, collecting data for assessments, assisting in the development of nutrition plans, and creating nutrition-related projects, among others.
Is there any supervision provided during the internship?
Yes, the Dietetic Intern works under the direct supervision of a Registered Dietitian, and all assignments are monitored by the Clinical Manager based on an agreed education plan.
Can I care for a patient who is a family member?
No, the Intern cannot care for a patient who is a family member. If an Intern's family member is a patient at the facility, the Intern will be scheduled to work on days the patient is not present or assigned to another patient.
What types of work environments can I expect?
The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility, featuring air temperature control and moderate noise levels, with potential exposure to infectious and contagious materials.
Are additional duties required of the Intern?
Yes, the Intern may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Do you offer any travel opportunities?
Yes, the position may require travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community, as well as to regional, Business Unit, and Corporate meetings.
What kind of experience is preferred for applicants?
