What is the primary purpose of the Student Dietitian Clinical Placement?
The primary purpose is to support FMCNA's mission and provide medical nutrition therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian, adhering to all relevant policies and regulations.
What educational qualifications are required for this position?
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or current enrollment in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics is required.
What types of tasks will a dietetic intern perform during the placement?
Interns will review renal nutrition basics, conduct nutrition interviews, calculate diet prescriptions, provide nutrition counseling, collect data for assessments, assist with nutrition plans, and create educational projects, among other tasks.
Are there any physical demands associated with this position?
Yes, the position requires desk and computer work, interaction with patients and staff, and travel between assigned facilities. The work environment is typical of healthcare facilities, with temperature control and moderate noise levels.
Does this internship allow for family supervision?
No, the Intern cannot work under the supervision of a family member and cannot care for a patient who is a family member.
How are the interns supervised?
Interns are closely monitored by the Clinical Manager and receive direct supervision from a Registered Dietitian based on an agreed education plan.
What is the anticipated work environment for this position?
The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility which includes air temperature control, moderate noise levels, and potential exposure to infectious materials.
Is travel required for this position?
Yes, the position requires travel between assigned facilities and may also involve travel to regional, Business Unit, and Corporate meetings.
