The main responsibilities include promoting undergraduate research, mentoring students, hosting research-related events, sharing professional development opportunities, maintaining a database of ongoing research projects, and managing social media activities related to research.
What qualifications do I need to be successful in this role?
To be successful, you need experience in undergraduate research, familiarity with college resources, excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving and time management abilities, and a detail-oriented nature.
What criteria must domestic students meet to be eligible for this position?
Domestic students must meet one of the following criteria: 1. Enrolled in at least one 3-credit course at Douglas College throughout the work term. 2. Enrolled in at least one 3-credit course at Douglas College in the term preceding the work term and intend to enroll in the following term. 3. Enrolled in at least two 3-credit courses at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. throughout the work term. 4. Enrolled in at least two 3-credit courses at another institution in B.C. in the term preceding the work term with intent to enroll in the following term.
What criteria must international students meet for eligibility in this role?
International students must meet one of the following criteria: 1. Enrolled in full-time studies at Douglas College throughout the academic year. 2. An international student at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. with a valid Study Permit allowing employment while maintaining full-time studies.
Is a Social Insurance Number (SIN) and Study Permit required to commence work?
Yes, an original copy of a Social Insurance Number (SIN) and an original Study Permit are required by law before commencing work at Douglas College.
Are qualified Douglas College students given preference for this position?
Yes, qualified Douglas College students meeting the eligibility criteria will be given first preference over students from other qualifying institutions.
