Candidates for the Summer 2024 internship at Vera Institute of Justice in New York must have familiarity with academic literature, qualitative research design, social justice movements, and the US criminal legal system, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

The intern will assist with research and writing to support advocacy campaigns on criminal legal reform in New York, focusing on pretrial justice, parole, sentencing, jail and prison population reduction, and narrative change. They will develop qualitative research questions, track latest news and trends, and contribute to projects aimed at creating positive change in the criminal justice system.
