Requirements

  • Preferred field(s) of study: urban planning or related field
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
  • Proven ability in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Proactive and able to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Must be able to work full-time and complete the entirety of the 12-week program

Responsibilities

  • Perform site due diligence, including zoning analysis and development potential scenario planning
  • Draft and review environmental review and land use related documents
  • Participate in policy discussions with interagency partners on land use and environmental review processes and issues
  • Inventory and track environmental review (CEQR) mitigation requirements for City projects
  • Create maps and visuals to communicate technical planning information
  • Assist in the Land Use Department’s effort to synthesize and communicate city planning processes to internal stakeholders through creation of background documents and presentations
  • Gain exposure to complex, interdisciplinary planning projects and initiatives
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Land Use Department
