Requirements

  • Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate sophomore-level students or above working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (concentration in Tax a plus) OR
  • Graduate students working towards a Master’s Degree in Taxation or Business Administration (concentration in Accounting of Finance)
  • Prior work experience, including a prior co-op internship in accounting or tax is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Detail-oriented and possess good organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrates competency in problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates interest in learning tax
  • Demonstrates values of self-motivation, integrity, accountability, teamwork and innovation

Responsibilities

  • Compilation of information and data for various tax returns, including income, property, excise, fuel and sales/use taxes.
  • Compilation of information for the financial statement requirements of the tax department
  • Maintain the tax department’s calendar
  • Assist with federal and state audit information requests
  • Assist with monthly journal entry and tax account reconciliation processes
  • Preparation of sales and use tax, excise tax and fuel tax return workpapers
  • Processing of tax returns and tax payments
  • Reconciliation of tax notices with existing records
  • Tax research projects as required
  • Perform other tax compliance and administrative duties as assigned by management
