Requirements

  • Enrolled in an ABET certified university pursuing a BS or MS or PhD degree in mechanical, structural, or aerospace engineering
  • Have a thorough grasp on first principles and Newtonian physics
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems and their relationships
  • Knowledge of CAD (Solidworks, Catia, NX, Fusion360)
  • Basic scripting experience, python preferred
  • You want to work at a small early stage startup
  • You want to wear many hats
  • Self starter and resilient: take a project from start to finish despite vague or little requirements
  • Bonus Qualifications:
  • Participated in Design/Build/Fly, Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Solar Car, Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition, FIRST Robotics, Battlebots, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects from inception to completion

Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand the avionics, power, propulsion, and communication systems throughout the aircraft
  • Design, build, and operate subsystem test apparatuses
  • Design, build, and operate Hardware in the Loop apparatuses
  • Write automation scripts to interface between aircraft systems and ground equipment
  • Design and assemble wire harnesses
  • Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other debugging tools for diagnostic purposes
  • Run 3d printers and CNC machines
  • Collect and analyze data to learn, iterate, and inform others
