Responsibilities

  • Compass provides Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in education settings across Birmingham. We are recruiting trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) to deliver evidence-based, high-quality and responsive services to meet the mental health and emotional wellbeing needs of children, young people and families (CYPF).
  • Trainee EMHPs will undertake a year in supported study at Exeter University which will be delivered remotely. Trainee EMHPs must undertake a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Practice in Education Settings, a degree Level 7 qualification. During the training year trainee EMHPS will work within the service delivering interventions to CYPF and education settings whilst also balancing university timetable and requirements.
  • You will be trained to deliver short term low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) informed interventions for CYP aged 5 -19 years with anxiety, low mood, family and peer relationship difficulties, difficulty adjusting to change or managing emotions in educational settings.
  • On successful completion of training, Trainee EMHPs will be equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and capabilities and work as a qualified EMHP.
