Requirements

  • Minimum Physical Requirements:
  • Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. May perform duties in the field and will be required to access and maneuver around project sites and use a computer. Capable of traveling to and from projects is occasionally required. Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
  • Desired Education:
  • Enrolled in an Accredited Civil Engineering program
  • Desired Skills/Experience:
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Previous internship experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or OpenRoads software is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills are a must.
  • Willingness to work with project teams on a variety of challenging projects.
  • Experience with INDOT projects is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in designing roads, bridges, and other civil/transportation-related projects.
  • Prepare design drawings using AutoCAD and/or OpenRoads Designer.
  • Work closely with technical staff to provide design calculations for highways, local streets, sites, and utilities, primarily for INDOT and local agencies.
  • Interact daily with project teams in a multi-disciplinary and multi-office environment.
  • Help solve complex problems by demonstrating practical civil engineering knowledge.
  • Assist project managers in managing project deliverables, schedules, and fulfilling client requests.
