Responsibilities

  • Traffic Engineering (Locations: Lexington, SC; Raleigh, NC; Baltimore, MD; Columbia, MD; Washington, D.C.; Herndon, VA)
  • The Traffic and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) group focuses on the analysis, design, and implementation of traffic control devices (e.g., signing, pavement markings, traffic signals, roadway lighting) along our roadways / bridges / tunnels to improve traffic safety and mobility. This group also designs and tests intelligent traffic control and wireless / wire line communication technologies that process and share real-time transportation data.
  • Transportation Planning (Locations: Baltimore, MD; Columbia, MD; Raleigh, NC; Herndon, VA)
  • Transportation and Community Planning develops, tests, and refines innovative solutions to mobility problems from a project’s inception through preliminary engineering design stages. Responsibilities include planning, analysis and designs for various transportation facilities including complete streets, sidewalks, bicycle networks/ trails, transit systems, airports, freight networks and parking infrastructure. Multimodal data collection and analysis is performed to investigate existing safety and mobility issues and propose geometric, operational, land use and demand management strategies including use of advance simulation tools such as Vissim, TransModeler, Cube and ArcUrban.
  • Geographic Information System (Locations: Columbia, MD; Baltimore, MD; Raleigh, NC; Herndon, VA)
