Requirements

  • Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Undergraduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited institution. 

  • Post Undergraduate: Earned a bachelor’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.
  • 
Graduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a master’s degree program from an accredited institution. 

  • Post Graduate: Earned a master’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.
  • Graduate + PhD: Completed master’s degree and enrolled as PhD student from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • An undergraduate (full time in the summer, part time during school) with demonstrated experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in a chemistry laboratory (other than as part of a class) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with a programming language (e.g., Python, R, C++) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Specific duties will include assisting senior team members in the preparation of samples for instrumental analysis, performing analyses using chromatographic techniques such as liquid chromatography and near-infrared spectroscopy, and maintaining analytical instrumentation, while maintaining NREL’s high technical, environmental, and health and safety standards.
  • The position will also require adherence to NREL’s high technical, environmental, and health and safety standards.
