Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Chemical, Civil, Industrial, Materials, or Mining Engineering program, an Engineering Sciences program, a Business Administration or Commerce program, or an Economics program at an accredited university (enrollment in a co-op program is an asset), with at least two years completed, and in excellent academic standing
  • Creative problem solving ability
  • Good understanding of engineering and/or business fundamentals as they apply to developing business cases for initiatives and projects in the metals, energy, and infrastructure industries
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, including the ability to research, filter, and clearly summarize complex content
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment with good interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills
  • Prior work terms or co-op experience is considered an asset
  • Extracurricular involvement is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • As part of the Urban Solutions team, you will:
  • Act like an owner and contribute to complex projects in meaningful ways;
  • Gain experience both in the office and on-site, as projects permit;
  • Collaborate with diverse teams both locally and globally;
  • Apply your academic learning on a daily basis;
  • Benefit from informal mentorship from some of the leading minds in urban development and design in Canada and internationally;
  • Participate in lunch & learns, Student Showcase, Sustainability Week, Toastmasters, and other enriching seminars to develop your skills;
  • Join charitable, social, and sports activities with other Hatch employees.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
  • Contributing to projects, from ideation and proposals to delivery and completion;
  • Applying and developing knowledge in various Urban Solutions areas, including transit-oriented development, urban planning and design, mobility solutions, and sustainability;
  • Preparing technical documents and reports, including writing, mapping, and visualizations;
  • Performing and circulating news scans to keep yourself and the team up-to-date on relevant events;
  • Presenting your work to relevant team members and clients; and
  • Assisting leadership, managers, and colleagues as needed, etc.
