Requirements

  • Required:
  • Undergraduate student currently enrolled or a recent graduate within the last 2 years
  • OR
  • Graduate student currently enrolled or a recent graduate within the last 2 years
  • Desired:
  • Interest in a career in healthcare delivery
  • Experience in process improvement (e.g. lean), program evaluation, economic analysis or data science preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate level skills in Excel to perform data analysis using pivot and lookup tables.

Responsibilities

  • Over the summer, this intern will work closely with the instED Chief Medical Officer and Quality & Safety Project Manager to examine and improve CCA's innovative mobile urgent care service, instED. The intern will receive hands-on experience, including riding along with paramedics who provide in-home visits, observing doctors who supervise the care, and visiting the emergency department in order to see and understand urgent care from start to finish.
  • Additionally, the intern will receive close supervision and direct teaching in healthcare management, quality improvement, and data analysis from an experienced and well-rated former Harvard Medical/Public Health educator. Lastly, the intern will be given the opportunity to directly shape care delivery in ways that touch thousands of patients, with the potential to for highly productive interns to produce an impressive final product and/or publication. The specific focus will be determined by the needs of instED and the interests of the candidate.
