Requirements

  • Firm grasp of design fundamentals. Good instincts with design aesthetics. Ability to create pleasing and easy to follow designs.
  • Familiarity and aptitude with Figma, Adobe Suite, Sketch, Invision, or other design tools
  • Familiarity creating Personas, Customer Journey Maps
  • Familiarity, with past participation preferred, with design workshops and user interviews
  • High drive to learn, being self-motivated
  • Attention to detail and consistency in practice
  • Clear communication both verbally and in writing
  • Outcomes-oriented, with openness to give and receive constructive feedback on designs
  • Current portfolio of your work showing experience with user-centered design, prototyping, wireframing, and visual design. A link to your personal website or a PDF with samples are both acceptable.
  • Experience with iterative agile software development methodologies like Scrum.
  • Experience in a non-profit organization
  • Experience with a software development project
  • Knowledge of other design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in user experience (UX) design, industrial design, graphic design, or related fields – or equivalent self-study training and project experience

Responsibilities

  • Design - Contribute to graphics and digital designs across websites, web and mobile applications, and social media campaigns. Contribute to detailed designs as a series of experience maps, storyboards, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
  • Design Planning - Assist with user interviews and creating user stories to define, promote and conduct the process along the way.
  • Concept Development - Contribute to product and design development through user flows and designs, creating and iterating on drafts to get user and product team feedback.
  • Branding - Contribute to brand identity through the creation of a product’s story and image.
  • Troubleshooting - identify and troubleshoot UX problems
