Requirements

  • Extensive photography experience
  • Experience in photo editing; Photoshop experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of a variety of camera hardware and equipment
  • Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in computer skills with a focus on databases and Excel
  • Historical knowledge of rock & roll and related genres is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with museum and/or archival description and proper physical handling of historical materials is preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and transportation to and from the museum, Library & Archives, and off-site events
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Flexible and able to adjust to changing demands
  • Available to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Intern applicants must currently be enrolled in a college (preferably entering senior year after summer 2024) or graduate school program. Priority will be given to those currently in a fine arts program specializing in photography or a master’s program in museum studies and/or library and information science.

Responsibilities

  • Live photography of events, programs, and VIP in-museum visits, with editing and optimizing assets, including resizing and color correcting, to deliver best quality to appropriate medium, as well as ingest and metadata creation into digital asset management system
  • Photograph exhibit installation and deinstallation of Museum artifacts for use in digital exhibitions, marketing, social media, website, and condition reporting
  • Possible Projects:
  • Possibly assist with research, reference assistance, exhibition, and/or digital preservation of photography in the Baron Alan Wolman Collection, depending upon the fellow’s knowledge and experience
  • The Fellowship may culminate in an exhibition of the Fellow’s work
