Responsibilities

  • - Work within the Emergency Department to welcome patients and undertake any necessary clinical investigations such as urine analysis, phlebotomy, and ECGs.
  • - Provide support to the nursing staff and medical staff.
  • - On the direction of and under the supervision of a Health Care Professional to provide support to that professional either by giving direct patient care and/or clerical, administrative, manual, domestic and technical support to the medical team.
  • - Carry out instructions from medical staff in relation to ordering tests and investigations for inpatients.
  • - Liaise with other departments at the request of the medical team to facilitate investigations.
  • - Undertake urgent venepuncture and cannulation as directed by medical team following completion of competency training.
  • - Ensure patient’s journey is not delayed through monitoring and ensuring investigations are performed in a timely manner and results are made available to the appropriate clinician.
  • - Responsible for chasing, recording and communication of results of investigations to the clinical teams.
  • - Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team maintaining efficient systems and processes relating to the patient pathway.
  • - Maintain accurate computerised and manual records, inputting data onto the trust’s computer systems and ensuring that all patient records are kept up to date with any details relevant to the patient’s attendance and/or admission.
