Requirements

  • A master's degree in a relevant discipline preferred
  • Senior leadership experience preferably with a strong background in education and/or psychology within a multi-disciplinary team

Responsibilities

  • Implements the business plan for the Centre, in collaboration with Werklund School leadership
  • Reports on the 5-year business plan and prepares annual reports on strategic priorities of the Centre
  • Identifies and addresses challenges, risks, and opportunities for the Centre
  • Incorporates activity data to develop key performance indicators and metrics to measure year over year comparisons, performance, and understand trends to inform decisions and assist in the strategic planning process
  • Fosters partnerships with professional and community partners and other organizations that align with the strategic vision of the Centre
  • Understands the diverse needs and agendas of various stakeholders and balances the multiple and sometimes conflicting interests to support long-term effectiveness of the Centre
  • Designs strategies to increase the visibility and reputation of the Centre in the community
  • Collaborates with other Werklund School offices, University units and community and professional partners to increase the number of professional learning workshops, seminars, and conferences
  • Organizes and reports on learning series and events (such as connecting with community on needs, engaging presenters)
  • Collaborates with Communications and Advancement on marketing, reputation building, and website design
  • Oversees all aspects of learning series and events (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, closure)
  • Reviews internal and external proposals in an effort to evaluate their sustainability and relevance to the Werklund School strategic plan
  • Examines the fee structure and revenue generated by the Centre in detail to ensure that the Centre meets financial projections
  • Supports the development of the annual detailed budgets for professional learning and outreach initiatives of the Centre
  • Provides financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting to understand existing operations and develops business cases and recommendations for senior leaders to support proposals for new initiatives
  • Collaborates with Communications and Advancement on marketing, reputation building, and website design
  • Recruits and supervises the necessary administrative team to fulfill the responsibilities of the Centre. As hiring manager is accountable for all aspects of supervising staff, including hiring, delegation of work, performance management, and disciplinary action up to and including termination
  • Develops strategies to increase contractual and other research activities in the Centre
  • Reviews internal and external research proposals for the Faculty in an effort to evaluate their sustainability and relevance to the Werklund School strategic plan
  • Searches for large grant opportunities that align with the vision of the Centre
  • Supports the development of the detailed budgets for research grants associated with the Centre
  • Supports grant writing for research projects held by the Centre
  • Acts as administrative project manager, including reporting, for large grants held by the Centre
