Requirements

  • Experience as a resilient and inclusive leader, capable of driving work forward at pace by leveraging partnerships and collaboration. Demonstrated ability to use initiative to prioritise tasks across a large portfolio. (Lead Criteria)
  • Proven skills in building successful and productive stakeholder relationships with the ability to influence and co-create impactful and sustainable solutions, consulting with senior leaders to diagnose capability gaps across whole (complex) systems. Creating cost effective tailored solutions utilising existing interventions or co-creating new solutions, either internally or through suppliers, to address challenges. We seek someone who exemplifies the leadership qualities that is required in the organisation.
  • Experience and evidence of system wide thinking to set direction with the ability to translate (departmental) strategies into deliverable plans that have an impact on the wider business, aligned with strong project management and business planning experience.
  • Experience, and a strong comfort, in interpreting, interrogating and utilising complex data, coupled with effective communication, problem-solving, and storytelling skills to create evidence-based insights and recommendations for senior leaders and a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • You must have achieved CIPD Associate membership or be willing to work towards this upon commencement of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Building trusted relationships and a strong network within DWP and across Government.
  • Proven ability to communicate progress clearly, identify and mitigate challenges, and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Consulting with senior leaders in the organisation, diagnosing capability gaps, and working across the team to understand how customers' needs could best be supported and met.
  • Utilising strong consultancy skills to support priority projects and initiatives.
  • Utilising strong project management skills to support priority projects and initiatives.
  • Maintaining a strategic view across key future-focused areas, including departmental skills and capability, automation, and management information embedding the 25/30 DWP Capability Strategy.
  • Leading on implementation activities for the DWP Capability Strategy, ensuring alignment across Personal and Professional Learning, with DWP Strategies and wider cross Government initiatives.
  • Leading workshops, interviews, focus groups, and utilising other techniques to understand impact and outcomes.
  • Ability to analyse and interrogate complex data and produce reports enabling continuous improvement.
  • Please note: Any employee may be required to carry out other duties within the scope of the grade, including line management responsibilities of a geographically dispersed team, and within the limits of their skill, competence and training.
