What is the focus of the Cardiac Practice Educator role?
The focus of the Cardiac Practice Educator role is primarily on supporting the Cardiac Surgery division at Wythenshawe Hospital while also encompassing Cardiology and cardiac transplant initiatives.
What are the working hours for this position?
The role is part-time with a commitment of 16 hours per week.
Who will the Cardiac Practice Educator collaborate with?
The post holder will work closely with general ward education teams, ward managers, Corporate Practice Based Educators, and other professional groups to coordinate and promote standardized education across the Cardiac Division.
What initiatives will the educator support related to enhanced recovery after surgery?
The educator will help nurses in phase 2 of Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) gain skills such as inotropes, arterial and central line care, nasal high flow, and noradrenaline use.
How will the role contribute to policy and service development?
The role will support policy and service development through effective evaluation and development of education in clinical practice.
What kind of skills will the Cardiac Practice Educator utilize in this role?
The educator will draw upon a wide range of clinical and technical skills to advise, supervise, demonstrate, and teach clinical staff.
What is the expectation regarding nurse training and education?
The educator will provide a clear focus for nurse training and education across the Cardiac Division, ensuring that the training meets the requirements set in the WTWA Nursing and AHP Workforce and Education Strategy.
