Responsibilities

  • Perform chemistry and corrosion related work in an engineering environment and prepare technical documents following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and (regulation) regulatory? requirements.
  • Lead or support improvement materials and manufacturing processes through chemistry considerations.
  • Establish and understand chemistry specifications for nuclear power plant systems to prevent degradation of components including new builds, refurbishment projects, and operating Candu stations.
  • Assess and evaluate the use of materials (metallic and non-metallic) in nuclear systems, components, tooling, and construction; Includes failure analysis.
  • Support and consultation for manufacturing of nuclear components (steam generators, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, piping) related to cleanliness, handling, corrosion protection, and inspections.
  • Incorporate R&D results and products, in the areas of chemistry, corrosion, and material behaviours, into the CANDU systems and new reactor designs.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and modeling of test and plant data.
  • Lead or support material degradation testing programs in a test lab environment, and/or work with external testing laboratories.
  • Coordinate and interface with clients, suppliers, fabricators, and stakeholders and other design disciplines or department to execute assigned engineering work.
  • Provide technical guidance and support and collaborate with other entities including laboratories, and other third parties.
  • Perform complex assignments independently or under limited supervision of a senior Chemist, analyst, or engineer.
  • May be required to develop and deliver presentations to communicate status, problem resolution or promote related reactor components and Balance of plant equipment.
