Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to further develop and improve the service.
  • Undertake clinical work, as dictated by weekly anaesthetic rota in clinical areas suitable to experience – based in Operating Theatres (main and day case surgery), the Maternity Unit and the Intensive Care Units.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the service by maintaining a flexible approach to work. The post holder may be required to change clinical duties at short notice to accommodate emergencies or unforeseen circumstances (e.g. theatre list cover for staff sickness).
  • The post holder will be part of the EWTD compliant trainee on-call rotas (general theatres, obstetrics and ICU, depending on their competence) on a 1:8 basis. The on-call rota has prospective cover included and therefore it is expected that doctors will cover each other, in respect of annual, study leave and bank holidays, without additional pay.
