What kind of team will I be joining?
You will be joining a supportive Paediatric psychology team that focuses on the needs of young people and their families with acute and long-term health conditions.
Is this position full-time only?
No, the position can be either full-time or part-time at 0.5 WTE or more.
What paediatric specialties will I be working in?
You will work in the specialties of Oncology and Cystic Fibrosis.
Are there opportunities for newly qualified psychologists?
Yes, the posts are open to newly qualified psychologists at a band 7 as part of an 18-month preceptorship, and those yet to be HCPC registered will be temporarily appointed at Band 6.
Is experience in Paediatrics required for this position?
Experience in Paediatrics is desirable but not absolutely necessary. A passion for working with children, young people, and their families is essential.
What type of work will the role involve?
The role involves outpatient and inpatient assessment and therapy for families, as well as providing advice, consultation, and training to the wider multidisciplinary team.
What skills are essential for this role?
Strong team player skills and the ability to communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner with both families and the wider multidisciplinary team are essential.
Will there be opportunities for supervision and training?
Yes, the post holder will have the opportunity to supervise colleagues and trainees, and engage in professional development initiatives.
