Requirements

  • Essential:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, with a formal ELT/TEFL qualification
  • Solid English language teaching experience and knowledge of ELT markets and segments
  • Demonstrable ELT publishing experience at project leadership level with a proven track record of successful ELT/EFL product development
  • Experience of working with a range of new media and understanding of publishing technologies and content management systems
  • A positive and flexible approach with the ability to think innovatively
  • Appreciation for a wide international range of teaching and learning situations
  • An ability to work to tight deadlines and to manage numerous tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including outstanding written English
  • Excellent team-working and organisational skills
  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge of a second language

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, plan and conduct market research in line with the publishing plan, ensuring project meets publishing vision and Macmillan business needs
  • Schedule and plan projects, developing concept and framework of the materials in liaison with the Publisher and Portfolio teams.
  • Identify appropriate contributors and initiate and develop proposals
  • Commission and work with authors and contributors in the development of material which follows the brief.
  • Work with the content development team to evaluate materials in terms of the project specification.
  • Brief external and internal content developers on project specification, tasks, schedules and ways of working.
  • Negotiate and administer content development contracts, with support from Editorial Services.
  • Understand segment digital requirements and feed into the digital roadmap as appropriate.
  • Make full use of in-house and external content development resources to ensure timely publication.
  • Ensure all company content development procedures and best-practice guidelines are observed.
  • With the Publisher, prepare costings, forecasts, specifications and business case to be sent for P&L approval
