Requirements

  • Experience with construction principals, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Understanding of basic construction surveying and staking procedures.
  • Ability to obtain MNDOT, NDDOT, and/or WISDOT Certifications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Must have strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team setting.
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Education and Experience:
  • Four-year degree in Construction Management or Construction Engineering.
  • 0-5 years of construction inspection experience or experience as a Construction Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and document contractor’s work for conformance with the approved documents.
  • Responsible for the establishment and implementation of the office procedures as they relate to the administration of construction contract under the direction of an experience construction manager.
  • Implement project controls for distribution and record keeping of construction drawings, construction contract correspondence, technical records, and other project documents.
  • Monitor and document contractor’s work for compliance with project safety standards.
  • Coordinate testing on projects.
  • Coordinate project construction staking.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals.
  • Conduct regular (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.) construction meetings with contractor, owner and stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly or semi-monthly payment requests.
  • Prepare and issue change orders on contract.
  • Conduct field evaluations and assessments as required.
  • Coordinate with the owner, the contractor and the design team.
  • Perform final inspections.
