Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality support to young people accessing youth services.
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment within the refuge setting.
  • Follow the Journey to Independence Model and Psychologically Informed Environment framework.
  • Complete intake and risk assessments for clients, including any accompanying children.
  • Ensure safe management of crisis accommodation and handover to colleagues.
  • Orient residents to the Journey to Independence Model and expectations for success.
  • Assist young people with health, housing, education, employment, life skills, and social inclusion.
  • Support residents in activities related to independent living, including meal prep, health, hygiene, and recreation.
  • Provide informal support to outreach clients in the community.
  • Assist with daily cleaning and maintenance of the refuge.
  • Work solo when necessary and manage critical incidents safely.
  • Maintain WHS systems and document client incidents and risks in a timely manner.
  • Document all client interactions within SAMIS to meet program standards.
  • Follow financial and administrative processes per program guidelines.
  • Model positive interpersonal relationships and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • Stay calm and flexible in response to change and crises.
  • Engage in reflective practice and professional development opportunities.
